Update: all items at the Yurman sale this weekend will be an additional 20% off!
Mmmm David Yurman. I've really come around on his designs. When I was younger, I thought they were for old people, but I guess now that I'm 'old' (i.e. wiser and wealthier), I'm totally into the cable collection. The F&F event will have mens and womens jewelry and watches. If you go bright and early, you can hit up the Intermix warehouse sale going on next door too!

Even before Westin started selling their Heavenly Collection, I had to have it. I tracked down their pet bed maker to Dallas and bought one directly from her before she became exclusive to Westin. (My cat insisted). It is awesome, and I guarantee your dog/cat will love it! Although ours needs replacing, the white fabric is a bit terrifying for me. I wish it was a darker color!
Right now during the Heavenly Annivesary Sale, take 25% off everything at their online store, including the very innovative (at the time) curved shower rod and double-shower heads and all that delicious down bedding. Ends Monday, Sep 7.

Update: beautiful marketing which confirms that yes, it is public! (I assume the AM is reserved for editors and industry)If you're feeling brave (and have a day to spare waiting in line), you should do this. However, if you don't know what to expect, check out Racked.com's coverage of the previous Choo sample sale. Leave everything you can behind (at home), and show up with your wallet, your phone (hopefully loaded with games), and a nice pair of flats to wait around in.
Although prices are advertised as 'up to 70% off', the previous sale had price points hovering around $250, with many complaining that you could find similar price points in the outlets or dept store/online sales.

The warehouse sale duel is back! Next weekend Intermix will open up shop at the Metropolitan Pavilion (conveniently only one block away from the exit of BWS) and entice with goodies from DVF, Brian Atwood, Stella, and more. In the past this sale has received *rave reviews* so if you're planning on being in the area, do not miss this one! Prices are up to 80% off, besting BWS by 5%, and they keep to their word. Go early (AM) to get the best selection.
** Helpful note: In the past, BWS also does their first round of discounting on Thursday.

And now, let the wild rumpus start!
P.S. Here is a Racked.com report on what's available today. Basically, if you want clothes, go. But if you're looking for cheaper shoes, keep holding out (that's what I'm doing!).
If your NM Last Call keeps a nice selection of shoes, bags, or jewelry, you'll want to pay them a visit today. This is a late-breaking find, so I apologize for the short time frame. Print out the coupon and you can take $50 off any single item priced $150+.
My DH gives me all sorts of hell for liking SkyMall. To me, SkyMall is a case study in missed opportunity. It was the first one-stop-marketplace concept, but not keeping up with technology (catalog-based ordering v internet-based ordering) and lackluster marketing have really hindered its ability to grow. Now instead of being an Amazon.com, it has a stable of good vendors (Hammacher Schlemmer, The Sharper Image (before it went bust), Nintendo, and a nice selection of computer-related shops), but just isn't there. On top of that, it even has the cachet of being totally lame off the plane (see Exhibit A: my husband).
I'm not ashamed! In fact, I like one of their main stores, Frontgate, very much. It has EVERYTHING. A mishmash of rugs, deck chairs, grills, and professional popcorn makers, but I actually like their pet products. The pet gates they have are so much classier than the plastic toddler-guards I had from Toys R Us! From now until Monday, Aug 31, take 20% off everything. There are some exclusions, though, including All-Clad, Bose, Wusthof, and Margaritaville.
LuxeClubOne has negotiated a special additional 20% off all the BCBG goodies on SmartBargains.com. You must go through this link to get the discount. Ends today, Aug 20. (Yes, it started yesterday, but the website was broken most of the day, so I didn't post it then.)

Issey Miyake is doing a one-day sample sale tomorrow at the Metropolitan Pavilion.

The designer’s runway collection as well as his Pleats Please, Issey Miyake, Fete, Cauliflower, Final Home and HaaT collections will be on sale at up to 80% off. Cash or CC (MC, V, Amex). All sales final.
Update: So I went to the sale, and I also have a bit of a rant. Just a warning.
The sale was a bit of a letdown because the discount for the RED Valentino pieces is only 50%. The woman said 50-60% when I asked, but looking at the tags, it is more like 50%. Right now the dresses are $229-259 (and these are the thinner, flimsier summer ones), skirts are ~$199, and tops (lacy camis, knits, cardigans) range from $139-189. I asked if they would discount more, and got the standard mysterious look and 'we don't know yet'. They have just TONS of selection. The majority of it is size 42, with 44 coming in a close 2nd.
Other than RED Valentino, they have Badgley Mischka Couture gowns, ranging from $699 for a sequined cocktail dress to a $2,200 evening gown. There was also a couple of tables of hodge-podge bags (nothing special) and the 'best' were rather plain little Missoni bags for $129. So, you might ask, what exactly was 90% off? Some label called Rebecca Barocco. Now, I have no eff-ing clue who Rebecca Barocco is, but it was really meh. And this brings me to my rant.
Unlike some lucky gals who either don't have jobs or get paid to check out sample sales, I actually have a corporate job, and my very dedicated male boss doesn't understand why I shop so much. I am very fortunate to be able to dictate my own time or work from home, but leaving work early (or coming in late) is kind of a big deal for me. Hence why I'm really pissed off about this sale. I should have included the image earlier (sorry), but have a good look at it. It clearly says "RED Valentino sample sale" and "up to 90% off". Of course we all know that it won't really be 90% off, but perhaps 60-70% off with further discounting as the days go by. But if you're only discounting 50%, then please just say so. I get so infuriated by almost-false advertising, but more because 50-60% off is actually not a bad discount, so why flat-out misrepresent yourself? And if you are going to include other random crap brands and actually make those 90% off, at least make it fairly prominent in your marketing. Sure we can sit there and try to think through the random conjugations of what your words may mean, but does it really need to be like that? So I'm torn because the inventory is good, and I feel that on Thursday the discounts will probably be somewhere closer to 70% off, but on principle I feel a bit cheated.
Holy Crap! Hie thee hence to Global Fashions' R.E.D. Valentino sample sale. It's only my favorite label at 90% off. (They do temper it, however, with a mention that other brands will be on sale as well.) For the women: sportswear, outerwear, eveningwear, handbags, and shawls. For the men: Italian suits at $149, blazers at $99, and slacks at $49. I am so hitting this up after work.

My favorite sale is back! Starting Thursday bright and early, you'll find people lining up on 17th St, awake only thanks to caffeine and adrenalin. Barney's has had some damn good sales this summer, so let's hope that there's still good stuff left for the Warehouse Sale! A quick look at what they have on sale online reveals lots of Lanvin shoes, a sizable variety of Rag & Bone clothing, and your requisite Marc Jacobs. Surprisingly, there's nothing I'm really gunning for, and shopping without a mission is just not as fun! Hmm, I suppose I could always use more Prada heels...
To prepare, you can read my shopping strategy or refresh yourself with my guidlines on how to survive the BWS.

The Louboutin python pumps are $597.50 (originally $1,195), the light-pink Materna peep-toe wedges are $270 (originally $540), and the Swarovski-crystal-embellished sandals are $662.50 (originally $1,325). Sorry I have not posted much these past few days. My younger sister was in town, so it was non-stop visiting family in Queens, Broadway play (by the way, Chicago is totally unremarkable), Foxwoods Casino with Grandpa, a ton of food, and the requisite visits to Saks 5th Avenue and Woodbury Common.
The Saks consolidation sale is worth visiting. Of course there are almost no noteworthy shoes left unless you're size 9+, but the clothing selection is not bad. The clothes are organized by label on the 4th floor, and I saw racks of Agnona, Akris, Dior, Gucci, Missoni, St. John, and many others. We were short on time, so I didn't get to browse to my heart's content, but I did notice that the RED Valentino rack did not have one single RED Valentino item. Lame! However in less than hour, I walked out with a Hugo Boss dress for $222 (retail $495) and a packable Burberry rain trench for $230 (retail $695). Not bad. A coat similar to this one was on sale as well. It looked like I was wearing a massive cloth sack and elicited a lot of giggles from us!
Another place worth visiting: Woodbury Common. They are having terrific sales. With the additions of a Balenciaga, Giuseppe Zanotti, and David Yurman (by London Jewelers) outlet, you really can blow a day away walking the Grapevine circuit. Many shops are having mini 'sample sales', and the prices are ridiculous. Case in point: I picked up a plain white percale king sheet set at Frette for $56. The set includes 2 pillowcases and 2 flat sheets, and the sheets are labeled "Frette for Kimpton". They definitely rival the plain white percale Sferra hotel sheet set I got at their sample sale for $175!
I also popped into my favorite outlet store in the world, Catherine Malandrino, and scored 2 'sample sale' dresses for $35 each. One of them is the yellow dress I walked away from at the Metropolitan Pavilion sample sale. Hugo Boss' womens section is an additional 50% off. Tod's has a good sale section, as does Etro and Elie Tahari. If you have some free time during the week, I'd swing by (because with back-to-school, the weekends will be hectic).

Forzieri is having a Shoes Event, which includes mostly Italian brands Amaltea, Alberto Gozzi, and Cascadei. The sale section also includes other notables like Fendi bags, a couple of Miu Miu bags, TONS of Francesco Biasa bags and accessories, Bric's bags, Coccinelle bags, Murano glass jewelry, and other things like men's ties, silk scarves, watches, and a smattering of clothes.
Just got notification that the Dolce & Gabbana sample sale starts tomorrow for men and women! Last time it was amazing... but it was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion, and this one is being held by DENYC. (I don't know who that is). However, they boast "thousands" of "couture dresses, jackets, skirts, tops, pants, sweaters and much more ... all straight from Italy". Sounds pretty impressive, and everything will be 70%+ off. They will even have fitting rooms.

I fondly remember my first days of school: the new notepads, binders, pens, and clothes. I didn't think about it back then, but all that back-to-school shopping must have put my parents' credit cards into mild meltdown mode. Here to ease your troubled minds (especially in these troubled times): LeSportsac, whose lightweight, durable, so-freakin-cute bags will give you the right amount of 'pop' on your first day of class (black patent backpack anyone?).

Gilt is launching an effectively lower-tier website, Gilt Fuse. While the regular Gilt.com will continue with the Carolina Herreras, Valentinos, Temperleys, and Louboutin shoes, the new Gilt Fuse will kick off with brands like C&C, BCBG, DKNY Accessories, and Generra. Price points will be between $75-150, so I bet we'll see a lot of accessories, like sunglasses, and cotton basics.
If you have a membership at the regular Gilt, you're all set for Gilt Fuse. If you need to sign up, you either google for an open link or do it here.
Tuesday is definitely going to be utter mayhem at the Metropolitan Pavilion. First you have the aspiring starlets auditioning to be extras in the SATC 2 movie. Then, you'll have rabid Alexander McQ fans chomping at the bit for affordable couture. I suppose if you drew a Venn diagram, the overlap might be significant, so if you're not in the Screen Actors Guild, just go to the sale early, and maybe just carry it into the casting call with you?
