1/19–1/23 J.Crew is hosting a sample sale on apparel, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children. The women's featherweight cashmere cardigan is $60 (originally $158), the women's cotton trench coat is $70 (originally $168), men's suede boots are $60 (originally $135), and men's wool suiting blazers are $149 (originally $365). 261 W. 36th St., nr. Jimmy Choo sale

A nice selection of bags and shoes are marked down 50% on the Jimmy Choo site. The good news is that it's 50% off (as opposed to the 30% off they are offering in the boutiques), but the bad news is that most of the shoes are size 40 or 40.5 and there is no way to sort to your size. Sigh.

Jimmy Choo sample sale

Update: beautiful marketing which confirms that yes, it is public! (I assume the AM is reserved for editors and industry)If you're feeling brave (and have a day to spare waiting in line), you should do this. However, if you don't know what to expect, check out Racked.com's coverage of the previous Choo sample sale. Leave everything you can behind (at home), and show up with your wallet, your phone (hopefully loaded with games), and a nice pair of flats to wait around in.

Although prices are advertised as 'up to 70% off', the previous sale had price points hovering around $250, with many complaining that you could find similar price points in the outlets or dept store/online sales.
