Saks consolitation sale, Woodbury Common sale report

Sorry I have not posted much these past few days. My younger sister was in town, so it was non-stop visiting family in Queens, Broadway play (by the way, Chicago is totally unremarkable), Foxwoods Casino with Grandpa, a ton of food, and the requisite visits to Saks 5th Avenue and Woodbury Common.

The Saks consolidation sale is worth visiting. Of course there are almost no noteworthy shoes left unless you're size 9+, but the clothing selection is not bad. The clothes are organized by label on the 4th floor, and I saw racks of Agnona, Akris, Dior, Gucci, Missoni, St. John, and many others. We were short on time, so I didn't get to browse to my heart's content, but I did notice that the RED Valentino rack did not have one single RED Valentino item. Lame! However in less than hour, I walked out with a Hugo Boss dress for $222 (retail $495) and a packable Burberry rain trench for $230 (retail $695). Not bad. A coat similar to this one was on sale as well. It looked like I was wearing a massive cloth sack and elicited a lot of giggles from us!

Another place worth visiting: Woodbury Common. They are having terrific sales. With the additions of a Balenciaga, Giuseppe Zanotti, and David Yurman (by London Jewelers) outlet, you really can blow a day away walking the Grapevine circuit. Many shops are having mini 'sample sales', and the prices are ridiculous. Case in point: I picked up a plain white percale king sheet set at Frette for $56. The set includes 2 pillowcases and 2 flat sheets, and the sheets are labeled "Frette for Kimpton". They definitely rival the plain white percale Sferra hotel sheet set I got at their sample sale for $175!

I also popped into my favorite outlet store in the world, Catherine Malandrino, and scored 2 'sample sale' dresses for $35 each. One of them is the yellow dress I walked away from at the Metropolitan Pavilion sample sale. Hugo Boss' womens section is an additional 50% off. Tod's has a good sale section, as does Etro and Elie Tahari. If you have some free time during the week, I'd swing by (because with back-to-school, the weekends will be hectic).
