Funky Soho jewelry boutique Stuart Moore is having a 'moving sale'. The sale runs until the end of July, when they actually do move, but why delay a good reason for discounting? Most of the inventory in the store is 10% off (think, no tax!), with very few items 20-30% off, and even fewer at 50% off. However, the 50% off merchandise is a select group of diamond jewelry, so that could prove something worth looking at (including the ring I've pictured below). Overall their diamond engagement/band collections are 10% off. The associates told me that sales there are very rare-- their last sale was 6 years ago.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers, $100
After lunch at No. 28 (which is really awesome, BTW), my eagle eyes spotted a chalkboard sidewalk sign that said SAMPLE SALE! Let me just say I am very happy I checked it out.
It looks like the entire store is pretty much on sale, eyeglasses and sunglasses priced from $50 to $175. It looked like from $50-100 you could find Emporio Armani, Miu Miu, Just Cavalli, Hugo Boss. A really good selection of Ray-Ban Wayfarers, even red, black, and camouflage, were only $100. Over $150 were most of the Persol, Dior, D&G, Valentino, Marc Jacobs, and Prada ($175). The staff was really nice, and you get proper matching cases with your purchases. I waltzed out the door with sporty Emporio Armani and huge Prada sunnies for a total of $225. Awesome.

How to get into French Laundry
Yesterday the DH and I made another trip to Per Se. In these dark times, the silver lining, truly, is the the availability of tables at the best restaurants, and the abundance of extended Restaurant Week / prix fixe menus (Picholine, Daniel, Jean Georges). Since we've gone to Per Se so many times in the past 6 months, we've gotten to be very friendly with the people there. The DH is quite the foodie and loves to compare notes with the Captains on how to prepare Keller's food at home in our non-3-star-Michelin-tiny-NYC kitchens. They put us in touch with the French Laundry staff, who have graciously accommodated our request for a table when we're out there early May. Who says you have to use that guy who has scripted out Open Table?

Ferragamo sample sale
Update: Awesome comment from a readerMen's shoes $139, women's shoes $99, silk scarf $69, tie $59, jewelry $29 or was it $39, plus handbags of various prices. Sale is not that great, I saw better prices in woman's shoes in President's weekend in Woodbury Common's Ferragamo outplet. There is a long line outside the building. I got there at 9am sharp and waited 3 hours to get in. Line is not that long, but moves very very slow bcause no one came out. Problem comes that they have mixed shoe boxes on tables sorted by sizes. Worst of all, they stack up 2 boxes and have size label (A, B, C, D, EE, etc.) facing the workers, not the customer, so every customer has to flip throught all the boxes to see what are in the bottom boxes. I think they did that deliberately playing psychology. Since I spent 3 hours waiting in line, I feel I have to buy a lot to make my time worth it, but later regret that decision, sort of. Almost everyone think the same way, everyone came out with boxes and bags bigger than mine. I mean every one.
I love being able to sweet-talk my husband into going to these sales with me, and it definitely helps when they are a) an awesome designer, and b) for men as well as women. The Ferragamo sale fits the bill. Get shoes, leather goods, RTW & accessories up to 80% off retail. See you there!

Dunhill sample sale report
There were no crowds at the Dunhill sample sale this morning, and overall I found the selection pretty good.
There were a number of styles of cufflinks, tie clips, sunglasses, a few styles in pens, mens business/dress shirts, sweaters, hats, belts, socks, and some shoes. Everything, more or less, was 60% off, not a bad start-off point at all, and I am sure by the end of the sale, it will get better. The best thing I saw was a limited edition black lacquer box of the Sidecar Leather Chassis ballpoint or fountain pen, retail $660-865, now under $300! A beautiful, fabulous gift. Or, if the man in your life prefers gold cufflinks, you can find some there too.

Loehmann's clearance sale
Loehmann's clearance sale started yesterday and ends Wednesday, Feb 11th. Everything with a red sticker costs 50% less, which is awesome. Upon hearing about this sale, I felt compelled to pop in, and I scored Cole Haan Nike Air flats for $25 (retail $185).
