I missed the last Kwigy-bo sale, so I had to go to this one! My dog, my puff puff Keeshond, is fairly sizable and has absolutely no need of sweaters, but I went in search for some sweaters for the cats and presents for my friends' dogs. Imagine a room of boxes of various sized mini sweaters, t-shirts, and coats, a stack of dog beds on a table, and carriers around the room. Add to that 6 women clucking and fretting: Will this fit? But my dachsund is so long! Should I get this for my daughter's pug?
All apparel (for both boys and girls) was $5! A steal if you consider prices for clothing can range from $7 at Target to $60 for a retail Kwigy-Bo sweater. Carriers were priced up to $45, and there were a few small dog beds too. Below are some of the things I saw. I got my new kitten the teddy-bear sweater with ears-- how cute is that!? A great sale, and no pushing, shoving, or nudity involved.

Lord & Taylor friends & family
I don't shop Lord & Taylor, but somehow I am on their mailing list. I got their F&F mailer yesterday, which includes 2 punch out F&F cards which entitle the bearer to 25% off almost everything in the store (except for Uggs, swimwear, and jewelry/watches) and 10% off cosmetics and fragrances. I don't know if you can get the discount without the card, but you can probably go to customer service on the days of, just tell them you forgot yours at home, and pick up a card. Or just find a sympathetic sales associate.
There's no online code component to it that I can find. Starts Thursday, Dec 11th through Monday, Dec 15th.

Catherine Angiel 30% off one-day sale
Although I am not cutting-edge trendy, I have a deep appreciation for a gorgeous eye-catching piece that just makes the outfit. Not only does Catherine Angiel make really edgy (sometimes scary) necklaces out of black diamonds, she also makes gorgeous diamond rings, necklaces, and earrings. I've totally fallen in love with her champagne diamond briolette necklace, and I can vouch for their customer service. When I got home and discovered one of the diamonds on my just-bought earrings was cracked, I panicked. I called the store expecting a harsh response because, really, a diamond? Cracked? But I brought the earrings back in, yep, cracked, and they swapped it out. Fabulous. And they didn't even look at me funny.
Twice a year or so, they host a one-day 30% off store-wide sale. In the past I believe some items were excluded, so I'm not sure about this time. If you're down in Greenwich Village, check her out.

Vintage YSL charity event
I admire those who go shopping at the Salvation Army or Goodwill-- those places aren't for me. I never thought resale could be chic, but then I moved to NYC and met Housing Works. It took me a while to get my mind around a luxe thrift store, and it took me even longer to figure out they sold clothes at a place called Housing Works. I'm usually a fast learner, I swear.
Here's the scoop:
Housing Works Thrift Shops recently received a generous donation of nearly 500 vintage Yves Saint Laurent pieces from a single donor. This amazing collection—including leather skirts, slinky evening gowns, pinstriped power suits, flirty blouses and elegant coats—will be unveiled in its entirety at a free and open-to-the-pubic cocktail party. All items will be available for purchase at the event.
See a sampling of what's available -- these pieces will sell for $50-200. If these everything is from a single donor, I would assume all the clothing is womens, and of a particular size range, but that's just conjecture.

I have always thought that Bloomingdale's marketing efforts were a bit haphazard (sorry Bloomingdale's marketers, as a former marketer I guess I am especially critical). I used to work for a British company, and I've long wondered why everyone calls everyone 'mate' in the UK. I find it incomprehensible that women are called mates alongside the men. It just doesn't seem right! So to right the wrong, I started a (very small) petition to create the term 'mate-tress', to which people said, well that's just stupid.
