10/7–10/10 The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Thrift Shop is hosting a fall luxury-coat sale. Hundreds of coats, jackets, capes, and accessories start at $65. Designer minks are $1,800. 1440 Third Ave., nr. 81st St. (212-535-1250); W–F (10–5:30), S (11–5).
The official website says the Thrift Shop receives "the highest quality donations of designer and vintage clothing, home furnishings, accessories, children's clothing, books, and artwork." So I assume these coats will be used. Although probably by women who took them out of their closets only twice a year.
